Tell FEMA: Invest in Communities, Not Fossil Fuels!
Whether our backyards are freeways or forests, we all rely on energy to keep us safe during extreme heat, hurricanes, and floods.
But greedy power company executives and their shareholders are prioritizing profits over people. They leave us with blackouts from New York to New Mexico, and wildfires that make it hard to breathe from California to Connecticut.
Now, these power company executives and shareholders are using disaster funds to invest in fossil fuels that benefit corporate interests: the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Deanne Criswell, is giving $19.2B of our tax dollars to fund unsustainable business practices in Puerto Rico, rather than to the people who need it most.

Together, from Puerto Rico to Alaska, we’re standing up to say that we’ve had enough! By reimagining an energy system for our communities (REFOCUS), we’re affirming renewable, reliable energy controlled by communities as a human right, so that everyone can access the energy needed to live before, during, and after disasters.
Join us today to demand that Deanne Criswell commit the $19.2B of taxpayer funds to the people of Puerto Rico–not corporations!

The Reimagined Energy For Our Communities, U.S. (REFOCUS) campaign is a nationwide effort to create a more reliable and equitable energy system. Greedy power companies have failed communities by making climate change and injustice worse; it’s time to decentralize their control and put power back in the hands of communities.
